Mo spends a little time away from the center to recharge his batteries »
Englishman Moeen Ali takes a break from cricket to "recharge his batteries" after falling from the Ashes group before the second test against Australia, Worcestershire coach Alex Gidman said Tuesday.
Ali was dropped after a poor performance in the opening test at Edgbaston, where he only had three wickets in two sets (1-42 and 2-130) and did not score more than four points.
Left-arm player Jack Leach was named to the team in his place for the Lord's test.
"Mo spends a little time outside the center, recharging his batteries and spending some time on the quality exercises he feels he needs, and we totally respect," Gidman said in a statement.
"He had an intense international cricket schedule involving the ICC World Cup and the start of the Ashes."
"I love playing for Worcestershire and he encourages everyone in the locker room to come back when he plays for us. We look forward to his next return.
Ali, who was part of the triumphant English team that won the World Cup at home against the 50 this year at home, has played 60 test matches since its debut in 2014 with 181 wickets.
